Square Enix redesigns Star Wars villains

Square Enix has a pretty great sideline in action figures. The Play Arts Kai brand is where the famous Japanese game developer creates figures of its own characters, as well as licensed figures of other intellectual properties. Last year, for instance, it took on some Marvel and DC characters, redesigning them in Square Enix's very own signature style.

Last December, the company announced it would be adding a Darth Vader figure to its lineup. Now, the classic "Star Wars" villain will be joined by two compatriots -- Boba Fett and a pretty spectacularly badass Stormtrooper, all due for release in July.
Each of the figures comes with 14 points of articulation -- three for each limb, as well as neck and waist -- and a variety of interchangeable hands and weapons. They will come in at around ¥12,000, or $100, each. Click through the gallery below to check 'em out, and visit the Play Arts Kai website for more of Square Enix's fascinating redesigns.
